Children
5/10/2009 9:32:02 AM
My thoughts sometimes roam to my childhood, of the physical and mental abuse that I had gone through. My parents were evil. Those were sad times, but I don't dwell on them. What I can't understand is how people that have had a bad childhood, can mistreat their children. They know how bad it was for them. Why do they want their children to suffer the physical and mental anguish as they did? How can they stand to see that? You know, I pray for those children and their parents. I also pray for people in rehabilitation facilities, that they do very well and reclaim their lives and be happy again. If you are fortunate and have no addictions, I don't think you can understand just how strong they can be. I do believe in Jesus, and ask that you pray for these people as well. He can work miracles in their lives as he has done for me and my family. I don't mean to harp on things like this, but it is so important. That is why I ask that you pray for children all over the world that are being abused, and the people that are addicted to drugs or alcohol, that they can be free again. My wife and I love our sons so much, and by the grace of God, they both turned out to be successful men. They love their children, and would do anything for them. I'm not saying that children should not be disciplined; I have swatted my sons on the butt when they behaved poorly. After about 10 years of age, I don't think they had another spanking. We have so much love for our sons, and it is sad when they grow up and move out on their own, but that is just a part of lifes cycle. We were certainly blessed with our sons. We always had so much fun. I never told our sons about the things I had gone through as a child, although I told them some of the things after they became adults. One of my sons asked me after I had told him some of these things, How did you know how to be a good dad and raise us as well as you did? The only answer I could give him was that the Lord Jesus must have shown me, because I never had an example of how a parent should raise a child, and I believe alot of it is just common sense. The reason I speak of these things, is that I believe we must encourage all young people, and to praise them when they do well, and when they do bad, sit down with them and do your best to explain to them why, what they did was bad, and tell them to the best of your ablility how they can do better, and always make sure you hug your children and tell them, you love them and that you are so proud of them. Thank you for reading this and may God Bless. Daniel L Keith
