Yep...I write "dark" fantsy, but...

Some musings on my fantasy.
Recently, a friend of mine borrowed the copy of "baker's Dozen: a Fantasy Novel" from the town library (I had donated it). First of all, she told me she couldn't understand it, due to the changes in viewpoint throughout my "little baby". She finally figured it out and began to enjoy it.

A day later, she informed me that she couldn't finish it. The reason: it was "too dark". I was angered at the time because this seemed like another example of me not receiving support from where I most expected it. I realized quickly, though, that this was a childish attitude...because, yeah, it is at times a very grim novel.

Even the settings of the events usually occur at night-time; my "villains" don't operate so well in daylight. Often the story is told from the viewpoint of these same bad guys...and, believe me, they are ALL evil and rather enjoy that state of being. Even my heroes have flaws, some of them very nasty.

If my friend had continued, she would have seen that all this nastiness doesn't totally win out in the end. anyone who has finished the book tells me they liked it...EVEN non-family members!:)

So...I continue with sequel, though at times it is hard to feel motivated. People tell me I should be proud that I actually wrote and self-published it, in the first place. I guess I am...

I realise I am only one of a myriad of voices "crying in the wilderness". I, of course, think it's a pretty well-written novel of its kind but I'm only SLIGHTLY biased!:)

Dear Readers, "Baker's Dozen 2: Operation Nightshade, Version 1.1" should be out this year. Warning: if you don't read the FIRST one you won't have a CLUE what's going on!:0

Thank you for time.
