Moving day for an old political ballad 7/7/2005 7:56:34 AM Had to move this old poem to make room for at least one new poem about the hate explosions in the tube stations in London. (Review comments are included as they were originally place in Authors Den when this was written.)
the big biz greasy seal blues (repost)
by Cynth'ya Lewis Reed

Cynth'ya's Poetic setup: "So what if we have to kill off some polar bears, a few musk oxen, some mountain goats, . . . we gotta think about the Cadillacs, the Limonsines, and those innocent Air Force One's!"
Note dated 3/18/05: Since more of my friends are either Republican or Libertarian or Independent, and knowing that even as an ex-Democrat myself that nature doesn't care who's party we claim to support, one political word was removed from thie original poem to reflect the thoughts of you, the readers. The title was also changed a tad bit from "texas" to "big biz".
We are all one, Nature needs our protection, and should never be drilled by some oil rig's erection. (Yes that was a sexual innuendo--Alaskan Wildlife are gonna get the shaft if we let this drilling happen without screaming to "The Hill" about "the hell" it will create.)
(Below is the old poem with a new blog location. May we establish roots of safety and peace.)
(A satire, sung to the tune of the Beverly Hillbillies Sitcom Theme song:)
oil drill
oil spill
grEEEEEEE-zy greezy
build up all my stock trades
EEEEE-zy
E-Z
we took Iraq
now we bully Iran,
now we're a-headed
for the Polar Land
gold is gone
now the oil is in demand
gimme Gimme GIMME
for my own retirement plan
Oil that is. . .
Black Gold. . .
Nature's Tea!

"I think it is very foolish to say that oil development in a wildlife refuge can co-exist," said Democrat Maria Cantwell of Washington, who sponsored the amendment to strike the ANWR drilling language. "For those who say somehow this is going to affect gas prices... we won't see this oil for 10 years. It would have a minimum impact on markets."
Bush vs. God's Creation??? Who's Gonna Win?

Cynth'ya,
The title drew me in...but all Texans aren't like that. I'm one of the poor ones :)
Excellent satire...God help our world!
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :(

i'd prefer paying a little more for gas, which is going to happen anyway, and keep a few healthy animals. they are getting too few as it is

Creation is Losing Big time these days - and the oil they can harvest from ANWR will not affect our rising gasoline prices one bit; the amount that can be harvested there will be insignificant according to government studies, and we won't even see any of that oil for the next 10 years, but the wildlife will surely suffer for it.

But wasn't it during a Democrat's administration that the oil spill occured. What about the other Texan Lyndon Baines Johnson and all his holdings. No matter how you look at it we should all say no to OPEC but they hold the cards. Maybe when the Chinese control it we will be thinking more about it. Me I vote for the animals and the preservation of wildlife but guys like Tom Daschle did not give a fig and I wonder who does? They all talk game but once in the White House it all goes out the window and that is all of them.

I lived four years in Alaska, just before the Exxon oil spill, and thought it was one of the most beautiful, glorious places on the earth. God's country. I explored many areas of Alaska and swore there had to be places there where no human ever walked.
Then the oil spill toxified and tainted one of the purest places left. The Last Frontier is no longer the last frontier.
This is in response to Bush's push to open up the ANWR for oil exploration. You can bet when this happens, it will no longer be the Alaskan Artic National Wildlife Refuge, but instead poisoned and eventually dead.
