cranking out
4/19/2005 10:40:17 PM    [ Flag as Inappropriate ]

Well, I finished those crime noir scripts. Was supposed to be a 2-part short with a cliffhanger between them. I finished the 1st half & went to bed, but couldn't sleep because DUH ... it's a cliffhanger. I resolved that part of it later the same night, and finished part 2 within a few days later. Both parts are slated to be shot together in early June. See PhillipsFilms.mrOlaf.com for updates.

Meanwhile, I finished my own nasty crime script ("The Crawl") the same week. This will be about a half-hour piece, and I've started planning out the film shoot. Ready to shoot the first week of June: 2 days, 4 locations.

I had an open audition event at a local hotel on 4/2. I tried to run it the way I've seen good auditions run, but it was like an all-day performance for me. I combined a voice talent casting call for my ongoing video game project (leftbehindgames.com) with an extra 2 hours to look for my "child killer next door" for "The Crawl". Then I opened it up for local filmmakers to show up and chat about their projects after dinner. Only one filmmaker showed up, but we had a good time. The day was a success overall. Gradually building my network of entertainers and creative types.

Today I was in a recording studio directing some folks for the video game voices. Afterwards we tried a few other things, since studios have minimum blocks of time to fill. That was fun. Always abit tiring ...

The next recording session is ... let's see ... TOMORROW. Different studio, 50 miles away. San Diego county is BIG, and I found a studio at each end of town. More voices & funny stuff.

Well, I have to get my scripts back together for tomorrow's session. Papers get all scrambled in the process. More news soon.
