Low Arvie winter returns

Its difficult to know whether to blog frequently when there is nothing much to say, or whether to wait until there is news.
At the moment we are just trying to get through the coldest winter on record and life is much the same day after day. All the cows are surviving well with their thick winter coats and even the newest calf born into a white world on December 22nd in a temperature of minus 6C is thriving. The cold weather has returned after a brief respite and Richard is once more carrying water from the house to the new shed. The silage stack is decreasing rapidly. We have about three inches of snow but the sky is blue and the sun is shining.
I have returned from my Christmas visit to Warwick and am catching up on the work both in the office and the house.
Someone has begun a petition to try and get the Governement ot re-think their decision to close the Forensic Science Service. If 10000 people sign the petition, there will be a debate on the closure in Parliament and it is most important to get the politicians to think again for the sake of our Criminal Justice System and all the valuable research that the FSS does. They have put a price on something that is beyond price and they must think again. The petition is online at http://www.petitionbuzz.com/petitions/savethefss/0/3 and I am asking everybody to sign so that we can stop this madness. The FSS has undergone a massive reorganisation and put in place a new programme which hasn't even started yet and they must be given the chance to run it for several years. There is no fallback position in place and Forensic Science in the Uk will b e in no position whatsoever to achieve its valuable work if this closure goes ahead. For all our sakes, please visit the petition and sign.
