The Day Paul had Two Parties and other things
Today was a very good day. Whatever I set out to accomplish, I accomplished. I started my day with alarms setting off – my phone and clock. With the television blaring, you would understand how the pandemonium started at my household. It was almost nine a.m. and I am late for my breakfast party at Ted and Carol’s place. When I arrived, there were people present and just starting to have breakfast. Mike Lee and his baby were there also, but not Stacy. (I was told by Mike that Stacy gets up late in the morning.) I wondered why someone would have the trouble of getting up early in the morning and have a breakfast party. Oh yes, one has to be in their pajamas in order to be served. I was in my pajama-like pants, a t-shirt, a hooded sweater and patent leather shoes. I forgot to put on my bathrobe and wear my house slippers. It’s just I don’t have any p.j.’s and I wouldn’t tell you what I wear when I go to sleep. The breakfast was wonderful – salad, pancakes, sausage, doughnuts, fruits, juices and spritzers. Tim and Brenda’s husband had a conversation about the restaurant business and property taxes. You know me, I just listened and on occasions blurt out a sentence or two. By the time I said goodbye, it was almost eleven a.m. and I am off to church. Yes, yes, I go to church every Sunday. Sometimes and rarely, I miss church but not this time.
And then, I went to Starbucks for my ritual of looking into things accounting and administrative. I planned to type my blog during that time, but administrative duties took so much time that there was no time doing it. I drank my one cup of coffee for two and a half hours. Supposedly, I was to spend time at New Seasons grocery to read the papers and have breakfast/lunch. But since I had breakfast already, I skip this week’s trudge to New Seasons.
I was invited to a second party, Dave and Kelli’s, to watch the Superbowl game. So I went to Freddie’s (Fred Meyer’s, a grocery come department store and pharmacy) to buy me a six-pack of beer. At least I have something to present when I arrive at their place. The food was fantastic, spare ribs and all sorts of meat, picker-uppers, and desserts. Certainly, my six-pack cannot satisfy the whole of twenty or more of their guest. Their home was beautiful, with great views of Mt. Saint Helens, pine trees that added to the ambience of the house and if you go to one side, downtown Portland. We were all squished in their television room with their big screen television while we go back and forth digging on the food.
The game was excellent! New York Giants won over the New England Patriots. Madonna was the half time entertainment and for her age, she performed well. I am not a big football fan but overall, the game caught my attention.
By the time the game is over, many of the adults had stepped out of the house to smoke. Dave is a big cigar smoker. I did not join them. Rather I said my goodbye and drove to 24-hour fitness where for two hours, I exercised.
I am back at Greater Trumps, now, lounging, having a beer and typing out this blog. It’s Sunday and tomorrow will be another day.
