Coloured Sands Trilogy 10/30/2011 2:18:44 PM Prelude to our family ancestors. They passed their love of this country onto me. My historical novels were born from their spirits. I finished yesterday's blog with reference to the pioneers in our family who played their part in settling this great, vast land. They were brave, fearless men and women with a fervent desire for a new start in life, who longed for the opportunity to own their own dirt, their own piece of country.
We are a young nation and our family ancestors are remembered well. The children they reared are our parents - both my husband and me come from new settlers in the 1850 era. My husband's grandfather opened up new land, built a town and much more. My great grandfather was a botanist with different gifts to share for rural Australia. I love writing about the early beginnings of Australia's history. Our grandparents lived and breathed the land. I love Australia as they did. I share their affinity with the land. I feel their spirit as I delve into the past.
Tomorrow: History of some of the ancestors.
