Is Home Improvement Fraud a Christian Concern?
9/23/2011 1:10:38 PM
I pose this question: " Is Home Improvement Fraud a Christian Concern?" because there are apparently far too many people in the private home sector being defrauded, but far too few seriously consistent support groups to inform and to be there for those actually and potentially affected.

No doubt, God exhorts us to ministry. You and I both know that. However, I think we'll also concur on the fact that Jesus doesn't arbitrarily place limits on serving others as it's within His will. In Philippians 2:4, the Lord by the Apostle Paul encourages us in this way:

"Do not look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too" (NLT).

But does this mean we should be more concerned with those already homeless rather with those with private homes? Are the issues with the former a lot more significant than those of the latter? Does Christ say we should be more willing to serve those without places to call home than those who've got them?

I think you'll agree that our God isn't so narrow as to even suggest He's more concerned with homeless people than He is with those who are geographically better situated. No doubt about it, as God's love is perfected in us, we're assured that everyone is equally important((1 Jn 4:8; Phil. 2:3).

I've mentioned this because, at times, we can become a bit too "legalistic" or "rigid" about our walk with Christ. There's a very, very monstrous void in support systems and consistent informational resources for addressing issues of home improvement fraud.

In reality, the phrase "home improvement fraud" is a misnomer for the evil inflicted against people at this particular point of need by the devil's advocates. The Word of God, as you know, assures us of what's behind the scandals:

"Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Pet. 5:8, NKJV)

"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly" (Jn 10:10 ,NKJV)

Succinctly, defrauding people whether they're private home dwellers or not, is evil. Hence, to oppose it is part of who we are, what we do.

If you'd like more info relative to how we can be of assistance to you or someone you know, whether a potential or actual victim of home improvement fraud, please, touch bases with us, ok?

Please, always report all dishonest/intimidating contractors immediately to your nearest State Office of the Attorney General. It is ordained by God to be one of our most potent allies in this area.
