An American Army General was fired from his job after he expressed the opinion that our soldiers did not belong in Iraq/Afghanistan ...
A Senator makes a comment at a cocktail party, or an Army General expresses an opinion, and suddenly they are featured news on CNN, with everyone you NEVER heard of expressing disappointment and outrage over this thing that they said. Heads roll. Is this good government? Do we live in a nation where everyone may feel free to express an opinion, or not? The fact is, we seem to have entered a new era in America, where you may become an outcast for simply expressing an opinion, even when the expressed viewpoint is shared by most people in America. That is what happens when serious government adopts a Facebook mentality. Some people are claiming that America is entering a totalitarian phase not unlike what the U.S.S.R. experienced before its demise. But this is not true. What we are seeing is the American structure being treated like any social website, where the public is empowered like a paparazzi gang, intent upon doing damage where none is justified. Nothing good can come of this.
