A Christmas Gift

People often ask me where I get the ideas for all of my books. My usual answer is “everywhere!” I know that isn’t what they want to hear, but it’s often hard to be more specific. They can come from a scent floating in the air or a plaintive song. I can be driving along the highway or taking a shower when something just pops into my mind. A Christmas Cloud came to me one day when I was at work and I found myself with absolutely nothing to do. Bored to death, I sat staring out of the tall narrow window that was my only access to the outside world. There was little to see other than one small cloud floating freely in the otherwise clear Texas sky.
My mind began to work on that little cloud—the “what ifs” began to dance around in my head. What if the cloud started changing from one color to another? What if it never went away? Would people even notice if it never changed? Would panic ensue? What if… And so it went until A Christmas Cloud slowly grew in my mind until it became a full blown story. Personally, I believe it was a special gift. I hope you will check it out and let me know if you don’t feel that it was also a gift for you!
