Almost, but not Quite!

MAGIC OF LOVE AND INTIMACY
Christmas is an opportunity to reconnect with loved ones and share a light-hearted time together, but it's also a sad time, because we never seem to really communicate even with our loved ones. Christmas has become so commercial and mostly an emotional roller coaster ride till it's over. Food becomes a substitute for a lack of nourishment that real intimate communication brings. We are all very sad and unfulfilled because we've not learned to open our hearts, or share and touch each other with the beauty within us. People spend their entire lives trying to be good at something rather than just being themselves. Instead of telling you who they are, they talk about what they do instead. This is not communion, it's reporting.
The human soul hungers for an intimacy of the heart that is shared deeply with others. Even our egos sense this need, but fear such vulnerability and hide with our deepest inadequacies. People are so afraid to be real and share their truths, always living in comparison with others and never feeling sufficient unto themselves. We do come closer at Christmas, but not close enough to embody the real spirit of this holiday. Maybe a hug is shared and an "I love you" said, but feelings deep inside are hidden or held back, even from those closest to us. How sad that we do not dare -- there is so much strength in sharing our vulnerability and intimate communion of the heart.
Words are symbols for ideas and when spoken without the heart, they're empty and hollow. Only when the passion of the heart enters do we feel the true spirit behind them. This is very healing and uplifting for all involved. So much of life is withheld and not fully lived when we don't realize what we feel and dare to share it honestly. We're all so caught up in artificial lives and uncertain how to be natural, loving and innocent in spirit. Gentleness is an attribute of an aware heart -- how much different Christmas would be if our hearts oozed gentleness during the Christmas season, but throughout the entire year, as well.
It's a sad truth I realized this past Christmas. You can know people for an entire lifetime, but never really communicate with them. They played a role for you, but your hearts never touched or revealed the sacredness within.
