the publishing racket

I am so exhausted about the whole business I feel like dropping out, The Booksellers Trade Show is beginning to haunt my nights as well as my days. I told Pinky I am going to strap saddlebags on her so she can help me carry books up to the exhibit. Maybe I will do it to Loaner; after all she is a big cat and has all four legs. And Tango. If I go with the union instead of my own muscle I will need to be at the loading dock at a certain time, which I don't know yet.
Along with boxes of my books I will have to haul a water bottle and -- I know -- some chocolate in case I can't get away for a bite. Maybe I will be so annoyed I may take a bite out of the first book buyer who takes away a free copy of a book. I am told to expect to give away at least 50 if not 100. Give that many away? I can't even CARRY that many. This is the part of writing nobody told me about. But complain? Only a little. But always on the horizon is promise of a rainbow. Maybe I'll get lots of orders.
