Welcome to the blog for The Strigoi Series by Author Kane
Hello. My name is Kane and I am the author of Aleron: Book One of The Strigoi Series www.aleron.co Welcome to my blog!
Early in my childhood I was intrigued by the feeling you get when you are really scared. You know the feeling when the pit of your stomach becomes one with your throat and you’re praying the lunch you just ate doesn’t lose the digestive fight. Not to mention all the soda you just drank charging its way to the loosely fitted exit door labeled “bladder.” The feeling when you are sitting in the front of the roller coaster and you’ve been vertical climbing at a steady slow pace for an eternity, only to just now realize, there is no more track in front of you. Yea, that one. And oh the screams! How I loved the symphony of fear. That musical number forever changed me. I knew from a very young age that I wanted to remove people from their safe, predictable reality, and drop them one hundred stories beneath the surface of my twisted mind.
The descent began during “story time” in grade school. I’d always volunteer to read, where I’d add my own little twist at the end to give it more bite. The students loved it and before long, they craved it. Soon my teachers began letting me write the little stories and plays to entertain the class. I think it was their way to tame all of us unruly little monsters. Nonetheless, I welcomed the attention and looked forward to the challenge. Week after week, I’d concoct a dish of fantastical creatures including werewolves, witches, warlocks, super humans, and last but certainly not least, vampires.
As the years churned, the education juggernaut eclipsed everything else. Mathematics nearly sucked all the blood out of my poetry and short stories. I graduated and did what all good little piggies do. I went on to college. Earned a degree in math and psychology, then joined the rat race, Corporate America.
Fast Forward fifteen years and the creative side of me burst through my psyche like active C-4 inside of a “happy 13 birthday” balloon. The balloon exploded and my sight became crystal clear. I noticed, with this new look on life, that the genre I came to love and cherish was being grossly perverted. Yes, my dear vampires were the objects of exploitation. They no longer scared people. People wanted to be them (and still do). They no longer lived in the shadows. Instead, they live right next door to the aristocrats of our society. They too have climbed the corporate ladder to success. Now they have fast cars, lots of money, filthy rich estates, and everything else we as humans could possibly want and yearn for. Thinking about it now, it wasn’t too bad of a perversion. However, once my beloved vampire was depicted during sunlight, bare chested and sparkling, I drew the line! The fallen tree trunk that broke the camel in two! You don’t believe me? See for yourself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHse6q92lb0 Thus, my hunger was intensified to deliver onto you a tale that would quench the blood-lustful voyeur in you.
That’s right. You want vampire. You got it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWaXb-BKXvA After all, it is your love for supernatural and paranormal beings that brought you here. I am here to tell you, I too share the same love for our preternatural cousins, some more kin than others. This will be our forum. This will be our voice to all the world, where we will rediscover the vampire. A place where you and I can dive into the mind of such a being by the name of Aleron and those surrounding his existence. The legend and folklore will be unearthed designed to give you accurate knowledge of their true origin. Yes, we will discuss all. From the oldest vampire to Bella. We will share all.
To all of my new found kindred, welcome.
