Disconnected!
I’m sorry, Edie, but your thoughts cannot be connected at this time – please try logging on again, or let us notify you when your brain is back on line!
I believe I must be suffering from ‘disconnected thoughts syndrome’, if there is such an affliction. I will have a vital piece of information to impart, and will be right in the middle of a great conversation, when, suddenly – poof! I’m left with my eyeballs hanging out, and my mouth left open expectantly. Suddenly my internal operator is cutting into the conversation with the above important ‘alert’ message. Actually, if it is an alert message, it certainly has the opposite effect on me – my brain goes into total sleep mode. It’s like it suddenly doesn’t want to share! How am I to camouflage these awkward breaks in the conversation? I suppose I could feign a sudden distraction - draw attention to something outside, on the ceiling, or in someone’s hair – Yes! Then, I would be perfectly justified in starting the conversation again with ‘I’m sorry, where was I?’ Perhaps I should eat a few more blueberries – they’re supposed to be good ‘brain food’. When they start to kick in, and I actually get a complete joke or story out, including the right punch line, I could pat myself on the brain, and enjoy a good laugh, flashing a brilliant blue smile (Be strong, Edie - avoid the ‘Blue Tooth’ pun!). I decided that the whole problem needed to be checked out further, so I googled ‘disconnected thoughts’, and I found a site called ‘Brain Games’ - How to improve your brain performance, on many different levels ………. Oh look, the cat wants out; I’m sorry – Where was I?
