The fall colours are fading - time to create more colour within and connect with our playful inner child again.
Tinker Bell’s Mom!
There’s a fairy tree a few blocks down from our house; at least, I’m convinced that it’s a fairy tree – It reminds me of a big beautiful mushroom! I can picture little munchkins cavorting through the large, contorted branches and singing their fairy songs. They’re all dressed in unique vivid colours; sparkling wings lifting them as they dance together, and laugh and sing - a harmony of colour in their own magical paradise! Right! Reality check – My walk is over, and I’m back to my own humble abode, where I shall attempt to cavort in my own special way (and it is special!) through the maze of rooms in my own tree house – each calling out, “Clean Me!” Not a very playful or uplifting song; and as I look down, I realize that I am dressed in conservative black and white – Why do we lose our sense of childish fun, and bury it under heavy rocks of self-consciousness? Now that I’ve topped the respectable age of 60++, I’m due for a little mental duct cleaning, and a paint job! Beware people! Hallowe’en is coming – I think I will use it as an excuse to colour my hair blue, and don at least four other shades of totally unmatched colours! I’m not sure what my character will be called – perhaps Tinker Mom? A slightly older version of that magical little imp, but if I ring my mental bells in fairy rhythm, I might lift a few spirits and lure a few others to throw off those rocks, and dance along, at least until the men in white catch up with me! I promise to tone things down again afterwards, but I’ll try to keep the sound of those fairy bells ringing within this mother’s heart – that’s where real magic can happen!
