WHO IS THE 666 BEAST- THE ANTICHRIST?
When I wrote the book, ‘666: Mark of the Beast,’ I read just enough passages in the Bible’s Book of Revelation to have a general guide for the major plot of the book. It’s been six months since I completed that project, and although I’m enjoying the rest break, I’m thinking about writing a new novel based on the entirety of the Book of Revelation. To do that of course, I need more understanding. I’ve been reading Revelation every day for two months trying for more interpretation. Last night something jumped off the page and slapped me between the eyes.
In Chapter 13: Verse 18, John wrote: “Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.” (666) Professionals have long tried to interpret those numbers through association with the Greek alphabet. Would someone trying to tell us something that important create a cryptic puzzle too complicated to understand? Let’s simplify John’s information.
“count the number of the beast for it is the number of a man;” John said count; he didn’t say interpret. If we count 6+6+6, we get 18. Now, let’s say the beast’s name will have 18 letters. That’s counting; it’s what John said to do. Now, use your imagination to picture a possible candidate of our times who has 18 letters in his full name. Surprised? One name fits perfectly.

Now for the ironic part; John must have had a sense of humor, even at the age of a hundred. His 6+6+6 is 18. Was it a joke, or irony, that John put this information in Verse 18?
Added: Whatever happened to John who wrote the Apocalypse -the Book of Revelation?
John moved to Ephesus about 37 CE, when he delivered Mary there for her final home. The (possible) buried foundation of Mary’s home was discovered through a vision by a German Nunn in 1891, named Catherine Emmerich. The rebuilt home is high on a hill, nestled in a grove of large fig trees, overlooking the magnificent ruins of Ephesus. The modern city name is Seljuk. That’s in Turkey, which once was Asia Minor. Ephesus is one of the seven churches mentioned in Revelation.
John was soon exiled by Emperor Domitian to the island of Patmos, which still exists by that name off the coast from Ephesus. He was released from exile when Domitian was assassinated in 96 CE. He is thought to have been over a 100 years old when he returned to Ephesus. John’s tomb is still under the alter of the basilica built there in the sixth century by Emperor Justinian. The basilica has the name, St. Jean, not St. John.
I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to visit the ruins of all seven churches mentioned in the Book of Revelation while I was in the military, stationed in Turkey. Ephesus, as the Apostle Paul exclaimed, “Is there a more beautiful city?”
