The desire to control and dominate 8/10/2012 5:37:01 AM The desire to control and dominate is near universal. Its comic and tragic consequences are also near universal.
Literature often captures this very human tendency: the desire to control and dominate. This desire is what the entire animal kingdom inherits from the very time of birth. We begin the process on our mothers and then transfer it to others. The father dominates the son and the son the father, when that becomes possible. The empowered woman similarly likes to dominate the weakening male whenever that is possible. Man tries to dominate woman and woman man. Bosses, masters, teachers, bureaucrats, generals; all.
For those who can watch this happening from outside this is a subject of comedy but for the one suffering it from within it has tragic connotations.
