A QUICK NOTE ABOUT SPACING AND FONT CHOICE
5/1/2011 1:10:15 PM
How much space do you, the writer, leave between each sentence or each line? What font will you choose?
How much space do you, the writer, leave between each sentence or each line?
Sentences...The majority of the publishing world now uses one space between sentences. Two spaces are from the days of typewriters and are no longer needed. Writers who submit manuscripts using two spaces will appear to be behind the times and unprofessional. As an editor, I owe it to my clients to help them look their best to potential publishers.

Lines...I have seen writers leave no space between lines. I have seen writers leave one full space between lines. Personally, I like the readability of one full space between each line. Experiment to see what you think is best but do keep the reader in mind. Please your readers and you sell books.

Paragraph spacing...I believe that one space between paragraphs is the standard and that's ok. But I have seen two spaces between paragraphs and, for me, that has made many a book very readable and also much more enjoyable.
if you use block format, then I would say that two spaces would be necessary.

Whatever font you decide on, just remember, don`t forget your reader. Choose a font that`s easy on the eyes. A tough book to read is one that probably will never be fully read. Your reviews may reflect that and your sales may dwindle.
