Political Dissent 4/8/2004 11:29:01 PM Just my view I have been reading a lot in the papers about what Ted Kennedy and John Kerry have to say about Iraq. As a veteran that fought the same war as mr.(sic) Kerry I believe he has the right to say what he wants, but I wonder. Does he believe the Arab world is stupid and can't read? Does he believe that they don't care if this Nation stands divided? So far his outspoken views on Viet Nam have cost this country millions for alleged Agent Orange damage to Vietnamese people. The communist country of Viet Nam thinks John Kerry is a great communist hero. I know how I felt in Viet Nam when I read about the protesters. I know how I felt when I returned home and was told not to wear my uniform because it might offend some people. I have a hunch the soldiers, sailors and airmen of today feel like that. I still read where people say its all about the oil, but they haven't done their research. We have never gotten more than about 5% of our oil from Iraq. Most of our foreign oil actually comes from Venezuela. The term "The Government" is thrown around loosely. The government of the United States is the people, yet look how many actually vote. But they sure complain loud enough. Our system of governing ourselves isn't perfect but it is the best in the world. The non-voters allow the corruption, graft and greed. People seem to have forgotten the word responsibility. We pay pro-athletes mega-millions, we pay our President $200K. Next time you read about a protest, check out the groups sponsoring it. Trace the money. The International Socialist Party is behind most anti-war groups. If you don't know who they are then you have had your head in the sand for too long. Newspapers are not the only source of information. In fact most seem a tad bit biased in their reporting, one side or the other.
I don't expect to change anyone's views I just had to get this off my chest.
