Dr. Romance's (http://www.tinatessina.com) musings on love, relationships, celebrities, culture and life in general. Join us for a lively discussion of life and love.

Will You Still Love You Tomorrow?
Here goes, a new adventure. It feels like the first tentative steps into a new relationship. Will I be rejected? Will you still love me tomorrow? How many times in our lives do we take these first, baby steps, our hearts and egos on the line, taking the risk because we want the payoff, but also afraid of a bad outcome?

Dr. Romance watches the goings-on with her heart in her throat. People take such phenomenal risks these days -- uploading videos on YouTube, trying out for American Idol, either ignorant of the possible hurt they'll encounter, or somehow immune to it.

Do they not know that uploading a silly video of air-guitar playing will also expose the condition of their nest? The dirty clothes hanging on the chair, the bookcase in shambles behind them? That that video will live forever on the Internet, coming back to haunt them years later, when they have made a name as an investment banker?

Dr. Romance (http://www.tinatessina.com)
sighs: no, they have not thought about it. It's impulsive, like first love. It's jumping into the deep end of the pool without first checking to see if there's any water. God help us human beings, especially the young. So brave, so unaware of how fragile we can be. So defenseless in an increasingly hostile and complex world. And, tomorrow will bring whatever, whether we take the risk or not. So, Dr. Romance says, go for it, brave ones -- your hearts and egos will heal, and learn, and be the wiser for it. But be sure to remember to love yourself tomorrow, whether you still think it was a good idea or not.
What emotional risks are you taking lately?
