Some Thoughts on Trying to Get Published 3/3/2006 12:26:53 PM As anybody who has read my writing knows, I am unabashedly a man of the political right. I consider my views to be mainstream American: strong national defense, limited government, low taxes, traditional values, etc. Alas, in today's world, those beliefs are now considered "right wing." So be it. What I want to discuss here and now is the difficulty writers who feel as I do have getting published. My two completed novels are not, to say the least, "politically correct," especially the second one. The other day I sent a proposal for "The Chairman Said No" via e-mail to a well-known literary agent. Supposedly this particular agency responds to queries in 3-4 weeks. I got a (very terse) rejection in about two hours! Of course, that may mean my manuscript simply stinks! I really don't think that's the case. I believe I'm having trouble finding an agent because most of them just don't like the message I'm putting across.
I'd like to hear from you authors out there who are traditionalists like myself. Have you had similar experiences?
