As an Illini fan, I disagree with making them quit using Chief Illinew as their mascot. The Chief is not named after a specific tribe. Since there are a few people offended by the use of the Chief, an Illinois University tradition for many years, I want to express my displeasure of those mascots that use "demons" or "devils" in their mascot name.
As a Christian I object to giving demons and the devil national attention by using them as a team name for a nationally known NCAA team name.
Sorry, my rant for the day. The good news is that I had a wonderful PR release today! I'm sharing it with you as part of my blog today. Blatent and shameless self-promotion! LOL I did use a web-site that Authors Den recommends.
