First Day of Kindergarten for Youngest Grandchild

Chronicle of Breezy's first day of Kindergarten!
Breezy missed the deadline to go to Kindergarten by one day...specifically by 8 hours! So during the summer, her mom and I took all the steps necessary ( and there were many) to get an exemption for her. When they finally said she could start school, she went everywhere raising her hands and saying "I'm going to Kindergarten!"
First day, mom and dad take her but since I am a volunteer grandmother at the school, I get to check on her throughout the day! She's one of the first of her siblings that rushes through the door that morning! She's so excited, she's like a little whirlwind and I could barely get her to stand still to take a picture of her. Then off to her classroom and her new teacher. Miss Roe has a bulletin board all decked out to welcome her new class, so I snap a picture of Breezy standing in front of "her" bee! She is escorted into the classroom and she immediately finds her "chair" at the table. She bravely kisses her mommy good-bye and I walk a tearful mom to the front door of the school.
I check in several times during that first day. Skipping out on the first day of first grade with my new kids, but wanting to see how she was doing too. Miss Roe is very understanding of this doting grandma!
Lunch time, so grandma runs down to the cafeteria after she takes a picture of her little darling in line at the door of her room. Then I sneak a quick picture of her in the lunch line for the first time. She looks so cute and just beams with confidence! Can you tell I am a total nut when it comes to my grandkids? Then quick, I snap one last picture at lunch while she is sitting at the table.
I see her going down the hall after lunch, her little mouth all popped out with her "bubble" face. That's how they learn to be quiet in the hallway. Her little hands clasped behind her. Check in again later and she is sitting on the floor listening to a story.
Time for the first day to end. I go across the hall to her classroom and catch a picture of her leaving the classroom with her backpack on. Follow them to the bus area where I take yet more pictures! Still smiling at the end of the first day!
Just a little side note: that evening they had a pool party for last year's girl scout troops her Mom was in charge of. The next day she gets up reluctantly and then tells Mom that she thinks she will just not go to school today because she is too tired! Well, no bus ride for her that morning. After bribery gets her into my car, I drive us both to the second day of classes! Singing 5 Little Monkeys all the way to school. When she got there, she cheerfully hopped out of the car and walked with me into the school and to her classroom.
Can you really tell I adore my grandkids? All 22 of them!!!
