The Writing Teacher
1/3/2005 3:50:17 PM
I've spent the past two days designing a writing course on the "magic tricks" of writing, using both craft and creative techniques as the guiding force.
While the work has been consuming, it has reminded me of many things about writing that I tend to forget in the press of the deadline. Most of all I am reminded of the beauty of language and of its power. In my personal journey over the past two years, the words of other writers have inspired me and brought change in my spiritual outlook. In my professional career, the words of others have either taught me how not to write or shown me new ways to explore language.
Most of all, today I am grateful for the opportunity to share with others, who have an overpowering need to write, the tidbits I have learned over the past twenty years as a writer and as a teacher of writing. I hope my offering on language will bring something to the words they put down on paper.
