My Friend Is Gone

I love you, Dorothy Mullen.
Just one month after her dear Jimmie passed away, Dorothy went to join him. She died yesterday about 4:30 pm. I feel such a sense of loss, I can't even describe it. Dor was a fun lady. We worked together at both the YMCA and YWCA for many years. I recall one time we were in the Multi-purpose room and it was Halloween time. We were playing a haunted house sound track while the kids were manufacturing their Halloween crafts. When the woman's low moans and groans came on, I whispered to Dorothy and Martha Voeltz that would be how I sounded my "first time." We nearly busted our stitches laughing. Of course I was just kidding. Dor went with me to work most mornings. I had an old blue 76 Pinto that worked sometimes and other times decided to strand us alongside the road. I got rid of it. I got a nice Monte Carlo that was stolen after having it only 55 days. I think Dor got to ride in it one time. And then there was the Oldmobile. Good car for a while. Then it became like a disabled veteran. It had no horn, no lights, no blinkers, no back brakes..I had to put it out to pasture as well. Dorothy and I had a lot of good times. That is what I will miss the most. She was a wonderful lady and friend. When she called me about my book being published, she told me she was proud of me. That means a lot to me. I'm sad she won't get to read my new book, but it's more important for her to be with her Jimmie. The road to that destination began yesterday. Have a blessed reunion, Dor. You deserve it. And tell Jimmie hi for me.
