Another school visit completed 1/19/2007 7:19:07 AM It's hard work, but it is rewarding. Friday 19th January
Another school visit under my belt- including a 258 mile round trip to get there and back. Is it worth it for them and is it worth it for me? Maybe.
I still am amazed at how amazed Modern Language staff are when I show them how to get students writing haikus, acrostic poems, using the dictionary effectively, using grammar for the basis of meter and building sentences by changing words or adding extra words. I’ve always done it. It’s not new to me. I now want to extend that range of activities.
Success comes to two things – ownership of their learning and making the most of what they do have, however limited.
I also took the students through an editing / work shopping process. They do need to learn to be open to comment. Can even what is good be improved?
The students, year 8 pupils at an all-girls language college, have produced some very good work, despite their own lack of confidence. A little polish and it will be really good.
So, yes, I think it has been worth it.
Then the excitement rises again, as we decide that next time we shall be looking at design, accounts and marketing. Should be good.
I now need to email them a check list for editing and a character survey.
Post a Comment new!
