Don't Let Commercials Influence Your Better Sense.

Mostly through deceptive commercials or just playing games.
I had my auto insurance with a large national company for over 11 years. I was being charged $611.00 dollars for my 2002 Burgundy Kia Spectre every six months--I had other cars before the Kia. However, since I'd had no tickets or accidents in that 11 years and way before, plus I had safety features on my vehicle, I was given a $123.00 discount every six months, bringing my premium to $488 for six months. When the company started advertising lowering premiums for members who had no accidents, I thought, damn, I need to get in on that since I haven't had an accident in so long. I called my broker and his assistant sent me the paperwork to sign up for this program.
When the paperwork came, it noted that I had to enlist in another insurance program with the same company to the tune of a $100 increase every six months in premium. So I called up my broker and said, "Hey. I've been good for over 11 years and I have to pay more for this $100 driver discount plan every six months?" I told him to stuff it. Guess he thought I just fell off the Turnip truck or had idiot tattooed on my forehead. What people in my position don't stop to think of is that if I'm giving them $100 more every six months and they're giving me $100 discount--up to $500--every six months, I'm paying for my own discount. They're breaking even and I'm getting nothing but worked over.
And what happens after the maximum of $500 is reached? Do they then lower my premium since I've been supporting this discount myself and it's run out? Don't bet on it.
I had towing with Triple A, so I inquired about their insurance the same day and wound up with the same policy, same coverage for $279.00 for six months. They even gave me a discount on my premium towing plan with their company.
Was I nervous about changing companies after so long a time? Hell no. I changed the same day and wondered what took me so long. So don't let changes frighten you. But be sure it's an ethical company that handles claims as fast as they collect your premium.
Another thing to watch out for are these billions a year wrinkle zapping programs. Really. For companies who sell wrinkle miracle creams, their sales are up to billions a year and all they do is use 18-year old girls to demonstrate how wrinkles disappear. Or they use older women with good skin to show you how their product works. And to think, all you do is use their product and you win over the man of your dreams. Hell's Bells, if my wrinkles bother him he can hike a walk. Once those wrinkles are embedded it's very hard to make them disappear. And everyday there's a new company with a new potion--er--formula to work magic on your face.
While I agree there are products that minimize wrinkles, the real solution is plastic surgery. However, what's the good of having an extremely young face when the rest of your body has gone south--caved in to the laws of gravity? Don't let these companies trick you into spending big bucks on their products.
