Confused again

What are we supposed to make of the war president's decision to keep Rumsfeld on, despite all the horrors coming out about him? And his statement that he is sorry Kerik withdrew his resignation because of the dirt surrounding him? He WANTS losers in his cabinet? Real comforting, huh? With a record like that, we'd better keep a close eye on the Gonzales nomination.

From writing memos that condone torture to keeping the press in the dark about the president's doings, Attorney General Nominee Alberto Gonzales has a record that requires careful scrutiny before the Senate should even consider confirming his nomination. Unfortunately, in too many confirmation hearings—especially with a Republican-controlled legislature—Senators simply rubber-stamp the president's nominations without much consideration. The attorney general is responsible for upholding the highest standard of lawfulness —not finding clever loopholes to avoid it.
