Letter Writing Campaign To Save A National Historic Site
11/24/2004 10:06:13 PM

Conservation and preservation of historic sites in the United States is a constant battle against money hungry developers. Below is a post I received about one such endangered site, General Anthony Wayne's training camp (1792). You’re not being asked to donate money just print a letter to the governor of Pennsylvania and mail it. There are 17 U.S. Soldiers buried on that site, remember they were there for you before you were even born to ensure that you were free. Now they need you to protect their final resting places. The letter can be found near the end of the webpage below.

Hello all. I'm writing to ask for your help. I'm a member of the Legion Ville Historical Society. We are currently involved in a struggle to preserve General Anthony Wayne's training camp (1792) that was located near Ambidge Pa. ( 26 miles south of Pittsburgh) The site is about to be paved over to make a new car lot. Not only will the camp be destroyed but 17 U.S. soldiers graves will be covered. Please visit our web site to see what you can do to help our cause. We have all the address of the key players involved and a copy of a letter that you can sent to the governor if you wish. Also if you like sign our guest book. On a side note If you near the Pittsburgh area we are looking for re-enactors for next year's season. I'm our Artillery Officer and I'm in desperate need of a gun crew. No experience is needed we will train you.

Please help save the First Training Camp of the United States Army
