Pre-Election Issues 10/17/2004 1:08:44 PM This article specifically turns to what the Candidates do not wish to discuss.
The Candidates are each proclaiming their agendas, never extending beyond their own Canned responses. This author would like to discuss some of the things not mentioned, but which might have a high relevance to the Voter, though will make little difference in the Voting booth, because neither Candidate will advocate such radical change from the ways things are done. Here is the list:
1) Elimination of all Tax breaks for Corporations upon the Bsuh inaguration in 2001, would have paid off the National Debt by 2009, when the next Administration is scheduled to end. Economic evidence does exist which suggests these Tax breaks for Corporations actually do not fuel economic performance, but actually hinder it. This is a heretical view, though, hated by the Interest Groups which fund political campaigns.
2) The funds spent on the Iraq War could easily provided 25 million uninsured Americans with Basic health insurance through 2009.
3) The Y2004 Federal Budget will be around $1.7 trillion, of which almost $900b will go into the coffers of major Corporate concerns, and who will average almost a twenty percent Profit on their services provision. This will provide them with in excess of a $150b Profit, on which they will pay a real tax of about 8%, or some $12b.
4) The Bush Tax Cuts were weighted to the Rich, where Those making over $10m per year could make many times the total income of the lowest-Incomes Taxpayers as saved from taxation. Remember these Tax Cuts were passed by both Democrats and Republicans, while the average Income of a member of Congress probably saved more than the total income of the lowest-Income Taxpayer.
5) All health insurance proposals by either Candidate, by far worse by Bush, insist that already-Insured capable Citizens get serious benefits for their already inplace self-insurance, with little benefit actually going to the currently Uninsured and only with high Deductibles set to limit participation.
