My Appalachia 6/14/2006 10:28:15 AM The Applalchia mountains was the home of one of my frovorite writers 'Jesse Stuart' He was born in a one room log cabin near Greenup Ky. The son of a man who could barley write his name. I compare my back ground and speech with the writer, though I will never be like him. No one could ever tak his place. He had a style of his own which was unique. His writings are a part of my own heritage. I too was born in a log cabin down in a hollow. My childhood years were the happiest part of my life. I never had most things that money could buy, but I had everything that money could not buy. I had the whippoorwills to sing me to sleep on summer nights. I had the woods to play in and I had the sky.
I had mornings filled with song birds and dusky nights sparked with lightening bugs. I had a secret place where the wild baby roses grew along side wild blackberries. Their sweet fragrance lingered throughout my childhood before fading away into memories of days gone by. I write of these memories in my stories from
'Appalachia Childhood'
