gulf oil spill rhetoric
The Oil spill in the gulf gets worse each day. So does the news of people who have offered help and been turned down by our President. Here is the man who was going to give us a new Washington, DC. We were supposed to get transparency and less crap; what happened? I think we have a man in the White House who only sleeps there occasionally. He hasn't been in his office doing the people's business since he was elected.
There he was, sitting and talking with his cronies about what HIS big chance to shine was going to be when it happened and he didn't even notice it. The BP oil spill in the gulf was his chance to shine; prove he was a man of action and FIX it. What did he do instead? He waved his hand and said "It's BP's problem". Excuse me, shouldn't he have at least tried to limit damage to our shores and our fishing industries? We could send BP a bill later but why let our land and people be damaged without at least trying to stop it?
This man who says "the buck stops here" really means, "if you've got a buck; stop here". He isn't any more interested in what is happening than he is in what kind of makeup looks best on a pale white woman. He doesn't have time to talk to BP or to the other oil companies who might have been able to help us stop this leak but he does have plenty of time to play golf, basketball and to take his wife on a Friday night get away. There is something wrong with this picture. Even when he does take a walk in the Gulf area he is obviously not interested in what is being said by the people of the area. Yesterday he sat down with some lovely Gulf ladies and when asked what he was going to do about this disaster remarked "Well, it's not like I can suck it up with a straw". They were appalled that the President of the United States would act so flip in such a time but what else could you expect from a man who went on national television as President and said he had to figure out "whose ass to kick"?
Today's headline said that "the Gulf will be as good as new soon; even better." Perhaps he does not know the definition of "better". Yes, he is making a change but it's not the kind we thought it would be.
