Some of my pastimes are writing my future novels, reading mysteries, going to the movies, searching for sales, taking long walks and exercising. I watch television sparingly. There may be a couple of programs I watch faithfully every week. I have TIVO to record my favorite shows so I can watch them at my leisure and to enjoy my off time doing the above.
After a series of unavoidable situations, I found myself sprawled across my bed watching up to 3 to 4 hours television nightly and searching for my more programs. I hadn’t written in 6 weeks. I had a book I started to read in May and hadn’t completed. Daily, I drove past my bargain places, heading home to see what new programs TIVO had recorded. My walks consisted of trotting to the refrigerator during commercials to get a cold drink. And, I had a free 8 week trial membership at Bally’s that was nearly expired. My self-check with close observation enlightened me. I was not coping with my problems. I was coping out.
Learn to observe your changed behaviors and discern if they are for the good or for the bad.
