Christmas in the Emergency Room

On Christmas night, my 14-month-old grandson was rushed to the ER because his breathing became erratic. All the adults were frantic...
There's something about the ER and Holidays when it comes to my family. On Thanksgiving evening, my mother-in-law wound up in the ER after falling down and re-injuring her arm.
On Christmas night, my 14-month-old grandson was rushed to the ER because his breathing became erratic. All the adults were frantic while "little J-man" seemed to be trying to figure out what all the fuss was about. In the end, the doctor said he was just congested and his nasal passages were cleared. No real reason for alarm.
It reminded me of the time my daughter had a peppermint stuck in her throat. She wasn't crying. She wasn't in distress...but her dad and I were on the brink of a breakdown while arguing about how the other let it happen and trying to figure out who was going to drive her to the hospital.
The resilience of children will always be amazing to me.
