Setting the stage for "395 and a Wake Up"
10/28/2006 8:01:51 AM
Greetings,

My name is Terry Sako, aka “Chicago,” a moniker I haven’t used for close to forty years; ever since I was a young Marine in the Vietnam War. Legally, I was a man back then, but believe me, I was just a boy. Actually, a teenager . . . barely nineteen; face strewn with acne, and tooling around with a raging case of libido (being that I still was a virgin). Can you dig that? Nineteen . . . and my virtue unsullied. But it was the 60s, and that was the norm for most of us. Or so it seemed to me.

I spent eighteen months over there in “Never Neverland,” and no way would I ever be the same.

If I can quote the words of a song by P.F.Sloan, written back yonder in 1965:

“You’re old enough to kill
But not for votin’
You don’t believe in war
But what’s that gun you’re totin’”

And weren’t those words a real enlightenment (read: kick in the teeth).
