It's absolutley ridiculous what these government employees make and why the heck can't the Cubs play like the Rockies?
You people tired of putting in a hard days work and having some stingy boss telling that they can't afford to give you a pay raise. Are you tired of getting a week or two off the whole year if you're lucky? Are you tired of paying an arm and leg to get decent health benefits? Do you feel like you have to work till you're like 80 before you can afford to retire or maybe just keep on working till they put you in that box? Well then maybe you should fill an application for all these cushy government jobs. I mean I was reading an article about all these politicians who work on Capitol Hill. How they automatically give themselves 'huge pay raises' on top of their like $165000 a year salary because of the 'demanding work' they do and then have the gall to say they can make a lot more in the private sector. Well I work in the 'private sector' and I barely make one tenth of what they make. My stingy boss at the coffee shop gave me a measly raise only after I told him I was gonna quit and work as a waitress at another coffee shop. Now lets talk about the nice pensions and health benefits these politicians get. The article said the average congressmen gets as sweet a pension as a senior corporate executive and that's only after working like only five years on Capitol Hill. Some of these politicians can retire as young as 50 with a nice fat pension. I mean those politicians have a pension that is several times larger than my fulltime pay as a waitress. A pension for me? if I don't make it as a bigshot film actress I would have to work as a waitress the rest of my life. Sadly for most people in the private sector nice pensions are a thing of the past. Finally these fatcats are also to entitled to the finest health benefits. Benefits where with a small deductible they and their families have access to some of the finest doctors and hospitals in the country. Benefits where nobody checks for things like 'preexisting conditons.'
And it's not just politicians who are doing well. It's all government workers. Marcus you say work as a teacher and you get like over three months off on top of a pretty respectable salary? Also if you go to any government office those people are like gone at 4:30 or 5 PM and they take every holiday you can imagine off. I mean if they have a National 'Honor your Dogcatcher Day" all the government workers would take that day off. (By the way dogcatchers are also government workers who have very generous benefits.) Out here in LA I read about these cops and firemen who are pulling $200000 A YEAR WITH A LOT OF OVERTIME. Also you never hear about government workers getting 'laid off' like you do in private industry. OK I've decided if I don't make it as a bigshot actress in the next few years I will definitely run for congress. I mean I took a few 'poli sci' courses at Quincy and am very knowledgeable about the current state of our political affairs. Finally being a former actress I can create as much 'hot air' as any of these politicans do today. It would be nice to have a job where you can get paid a lot and don't have to work very hard.
The Rockies look unstoppable. What they were like completely out of it only a month ago and now are heading to the World Series? Something the Cubs haven't done SINCE THE END OF WORLD WAR 2. The Rockies have like half the payroll of some of the big spending teams and like a fifth of a payroll of that 'Evil Empire.' Proves that if you got a manager who knows how to get people to hustle like Clint Hurdle and hungry young kids who are more concerned about winning than how big their paychecks are that teams without the biggest 'payrolls' can still win in major league sports. Cubs management are you seeing what the Rockies are doing?
Finally a big cudos to the local 'San Gabriel Valley News' for showing my mug in their paper. Marcus you need to show all these people my photo and yours too when were at that 'Duarte Festival of Authors' a few weeks back. I mean I'm really becoming a celebrity in that San Gabriel Valley. My mug was in those Pasadena Star and San Gabriel Valley Tribune papers a few years ago. I really respect those San Gabriel Valley people who know what good literature is. You people in the LA Times and the New York Times need to start taking notice of things like that as opposed to interviewing some boring author who has written a boring book which talks about the intellectual side of 'Don Quixote' who will be lucky to sell two or three books. Way more than enough thoughts for now.
