It's cold and I'm getting old
I just like making silly poems you know like those Irish things, what are they called, limericks? I may be a sophisticated graduate of Quincy College but heck we all got to have fun? So here's my silly limerick.
It's cold and I'm getting old
I like scratching my nose with my toes
The cat fell out of the hat
and I know this silly poem
will be read by people in Rome
OK so I got the creative part of me out of my head and onto this screen. By thw way I will be 25 soon. I mean in five short years I'll be thirty. And twenty five is like half of fifty (Marcus are you approaching that grand old age) and it's like a third of seventy five and a fourth of a hundred. So while there are quite a few
people who are twice my age and a smaller number of people who are three times my age and a small small amount of people who are four times my age (I expect to at least make it to a hundred before I keel over) I mean 25 is like a mature responsible age.
Father tells me I should not be wasting my time being a waitress/actress and be like a responsible 25 year old. You know like go to like some boring law school or some boring business school or have some dull boring corporate job and start husband hunting, find some dull boring corporate type fella with a boring desk job......blah blah blah blah..... He says he can't see why I shelled out over 40 grand a year for over four years at a fancy college TO BE A WAITRESS.
I'm sorry father but I would much rather be a waitress and pursue my dream of being a rich and famous actress than pursue that dull stuffy lifestyle described above.
You people wonder how I can work as a waitress and pay of all those heavy school debts? Fortunately I got a lot of scholarship money to go to Quincy so I don't have a lot of loans to pay off.......but I do have some debt.
Of course because of my poverty wages I just live a very frugal lifestyle. Since I'm auditioning as an actress and can't afford to get fat, I hardly eat. I live with my roomate Marissa in a cheap two bedroom in Van Nuys. I take the bus a lot of times to work instead of drive. I keep my utility costs down by not using the heater or air conditioner which means I freeze in the winter and sweat in the summer. I rarely eat out......
People can live frugally in LA........... You just have to build a tree house, use public restrooms, drink out of the water fountain, by bologna sandwiches at 7-11, get a job within walking distance....
Ohhhh the mvoies in 2008 are so bad I actually long for the geat days of 2007 when a 'classic' like No Country for Old Men actually wins the Oscar. I just hope and pray that when I finally get that 'role' it's in a movie that's halfway decent. Anyways I just saw Penelope and it's clearly my Double Os Stinker of the Week. Christina Ricci plays a rich girl with the nose of a pig. Hello Penelope you've got money. Haven't you heard of a nose job? Also all the young suitors run away from Penelope just becaue of her hog's snout? In reality we all know selfish people would marry someone who looks like a tarantula if they knew that person had a lot of money.
Speaking of taranulas you see more and more people with strange pets, you know tarantulas, scorpions, centipedes.....as opposed to the dull dog, cat, or bird. These people better make sure to check their cages.....and their bedsheets.....every night.
Sad recent passings, Roy Scheider, just loved him in Jaws and The Seven Ups. Suzanne Pleshette, Bob Newhart is like one of my favorite all time TV shorts and of course she was great in The Birds, Mr Intellectual and of course one of my father's idols, William F Buckley, and what Steeler fan didn't know 'Mr Terrible Towel,' Myron Cope. May you all rest in peace.
A couple of great blasts from the past.....My Sharona by the Knack. The Sounds of Philadelphia by The Three Degrees and Addicted to Love by the late great Robert Palmer. I'm sorry but I can't think of too many songs made today that twenty years from now will be considered a great blast from the past.
Acting acting I just saw two great movies on the boob tube today, Alien and Ben Hur. What makes those movies so great is obviously the special effects and music but also the great acting. Just an incredible ensemble in both movies. I mean even some of the character actors really stand out. I mean if you see Alien you see a great character actor named Harry Dean Stanton and this guy is like in a thousand movies....I just saw him in Cool Hand Luke....Ben Hur had a remarkable performance by the late Stephen Boyd who played Ben Hur's hated rival Messalah. You just don't have the talent depth in movies today like you did in the old days.
Speaking of the 'old days' you older hippy type baby boomers remember saying that famous term 'Don't trust anyone over thirty?' You people are like 65 years old now and ready for Medicare. That's something us genyers need to say. Finally a bit of silly trivia... This is the 40th anniverary of LBJs 'I shall not seek reelection' speech from that wild and crazy 'Aquarius' year 1968. Now you can see why someone like me who likes indulging into all kinds of silly facts DOES NOT WANT TO BE STUCK IN SOME DULL CORPORATE JOB. UNDERSTAND FATHER?
