The Emptiness that is Full

What we view as empty isn't always so
Not long ago on an animal farm with a friend
we watched an older female chimpanzee
caring for a baby whose mother had died
My friends friend who owned the shelter
told us that the older chimp was barren
had never given birth,but knew instinctively
what the younger chimp needed
She even fed the baby with the bottled formula
they were using...
I never forgot the visit and the thoughts that
I had while there. Last week my friend said
the older chimp had died. The young one she
cared for is a mother now...
I couldn't get the image of her out of my mind
and I thought she may not have been able to
have babies, but her womb was full nonetheless
What we view as empty isn't always so. There is a
great compilation of work by spiritual seekers that
believe nothingness is fullness.
It is the theory that the eternal has no qualities
since it has all qualities.
The Effective and the ineffective
Fullness and Emptiness
Living and Dead
Difference and Sameness
Light and Darkness
The Hot and the Cold
Force and Matter
Time and Space
Good and Evil
Beauty and Ugliness
The One and the Many

Because we have all of the above qualities in us
they cancel each other out, so to speak, therefore
we can say we are both empty and full
Having become attuned with this through meditation
I believe it to be so. Everything we read or see, does
not tell the whole story,we must learn to use all of our
senses, to "feel" what is so as to "know" what is.
Yes all this came from my thinking about a chimp
whom I believe had the fulness of life in her barren
womb...I have witnessed this in mothers who have
the same barreness, when they adopt children
