Snake Food

The delights of owning a pet snake.
I just decided I would go and feed (or at least try to) my snake. He just ate this past Sunday, but I think the mice may not be satisfying enough for him any more, or at least I think I may have to feed him twice a week instead of only once. Anyway, as I was preparing his dinner, it got me thinking about one of my last trips to the pet store to buy his food. They have a freezer with all sorts of goodies in it, and I, of course, had to check most of them out. Luckily these "gourmet rodents" as they are labeled, are not in bags that you can see through as I'm sure it is probably quite disgusting. However, when trying to judge the size of the animal you have to resort to picking the bag up and feeling it. They have pinkie mice, fuzzy mice, and adult mice. If you need a bigger rodent they have pink rats, fuzzy rats, and adult rats. Now, the next size up from that is a "jumbo rat." I picked up this bag and proceeded to squeeze (it's frozen) to get an idea of what type of "thing" must be in there. My god, it was HUGE. Really quite disgusting actually. I can only image the size of snake that would consume something this big. I swear it was easily the size of a small kitten. Thank god my snake will never get that big.
