AuthorsDen as a Marketing Agent
12/22/2006 7:58:52 AM

I am naturally a facilitator, and I am always thrilled when I find a new promotional tool. The following is a copy of what I am posting today on many MSN poetry/literary groups. AuthorsDen provides many promotional tools for authors, so I think we will promote AuthorsDen!

This is something I just stumbled across (on 17 December) and it is very exciting. What I have found is an international site which has tons of authors and tons of readers, and it has some excellent tools to help you promote yourself as an author, and tools to promote our own site as well.

The site is named "AuthorsDen." I registered on the site only six days ago as a FREE member. "Free" is a bit limited. You may only post 3 works in each genre, and your available tools are limited. Within 24 hours I had opted to move up to BRONZE membership, which costs about $25 per year, and it gives you UNLIMITED posting of poems, articles, stories, and it gives you many more tools (like Stats which show you how many hits you are getting for each work, etc.). And you get reviews from the other authors, and you may review their works as well. Okay so far, but I quickly saw a marked advantage in moving up to GOLD membership (not cheap at about $119 per year) because this level gets you (and your works) listed as a FEATURED AUTHOR on their Website's front page -- and this brings a maximum amount of attention to you and your works, a very real opportunity to promote yourself, your poetry, and our own site as well. And here is the real kicker: If you do this right, you will find yourself, your works, and this group, popping up all over the place in the Google browser and the Yahoo browser. There is a trick to this which I will explain below. Oh yes, when I improved my membership to GOLD, this put my membership paid through 25 December 2008, so I am good-to-go for two years!
Oh yes, you get your own Blog and your own Newsletter and you may post News (press releases - immediately posted on their Website's front page), and all of this increases your visibility and brings more responses for your works.
I mentioned a trick which gets you listed on the Google and Yahoo browsers. And it is all about using "keywords." When you post a poem, article, story, news, event, or what have you, there is a box at the bottom where you are asked to insert "keywords" seperated by commas and spaces. I do not make up a new set of "keywords" for each thing that I post -- I have a standard set of "keywords" which I put on everything (poem, poetry, prison, parole, lyrics, poet, humor, satire, love, fiction, fantasy, fact, publish, publisher, history, culture, religion, politic) because these "keywords" are okay for anything I am liable to post anywhere (and that is the whole trick to getting Google and Yahoo to list you prominently -- the major browsers think in the language of "keywords").
DEMONSTRATION: Go to the Google browser. In lower case, type  ted l glines and hit Enter. Don't be surprised to find me in many different listings, but this has all happened in the past six days, because of the "keyword" tool on AuthorsDen. Am I excited? You bet! And this can happen for you, too, just as easily. You can do this.
In six days, I have posted 26 Poems, 7 Articles, and one News release, on AuthorsDen. That's not much, considering that some of their authors have hundreds of works posted. But, on their Website front page, my News release is featured, as is one of my poems, and my Stats are showing a LOT of hits for my works, my Blog, and my Profile, and I am showing quite well on the Google browser (I have not checked the Yahoo browser). Also, I already have one of the other authors tracking me and I expect there will be many more (this is a good thing). This is all about promotion and networking. And I have not even started with the Newsletter yet!
One last thing and you can go register on AuthorsDen. We want to promote our own works and ourselves. That is a good thing. As members of this group, we will always promote our group. Every time you post a work on AuthorsDen, you will have an opportunity to also post the URL of our group. Please do this to help us grow.
What are you waiting for! Click here: ( and promote yourself!
And, Merry Christmas, Happy Yule, to You!
