Schnerch / March 1st, 2009 2/6/2009 8:44:15 AM Take a look at this! I hope that you get some ideas about how to market your book. The Peaceful Warrior: Memoirs of a Damaged Mind and Soul’ tells the heart wrenching true story of one mans journey through trauma, mental illness and addiction to claim the peace he desired. This no holds barred style of writing pushes you to your emotional limits and leaves you with a new understanding of what it means to be truly courageous.
This honest and poignant piece of literature takes you to the bowels of mental illness and alcoholism and leaves you in a state of emotional shock.
What this book does is take you into an unexplored world of emotional pain. It is a hard book to read, but it is very real. Never documented before where deep emotions have been written for all to read.
This book will also be available at the book release of the, ‘City of Gardens: The Other Side of the Fence’ on March 1st, 2009 at the James Bay Community School (144 Oswego) with a start time of 7:00 pm.
I am also considering having my first book, ‘ADRIAN’ there as well. This will be a power packed two hours that you will not want to miss.
I have done something that I never tried before. The advertising for this event is inovative and specially targeted to the readers who can relate to this book and what is happening just outside their front door.
I have embarked on an advertising campaign that you could consider when promoting your own event. I printed 5,000 flyers to be distributed through our community paper as an insert. This is cheaper and more effective than an ad in the classified or calendar of events secton.
For $500.00 I can print and distribute $5,000 flyers geograffically targeting a particular area code. This is the most inexpensive and effective method of advertising that I am aware of.
If you have had experience with other methods of effective advertising, I invite you to share it with us and our readers.
March 1st, is going to be a huge night packing the auditorium to the rafters. The rate of response to advertising is between 2 to 3%. This would be a very well attended event according to these numbers.
I have had other release parties before and have failed miserably. This time I have worked hard and focussed on a simple goal.
I also took the time to produce a quality product and designed a strong marketing plan. I have forecasted the results I want to achieve for the next five years with this book series.
I have never marketed with such a well thought out plan ever before and the sales proved it. It is not very much more expensive than what I tried before, but is much more effective.
There have been many new ideas implemented into this project that almost secures a successful campaign. I know for a fact that the attendence will be the best I have ever had before.
The launch is only three weeks away and I am very excited. I have also set-up a similar plan for all of Victoria and the Island for the next year each targeting a different city every two weeks.
The problem I had before was that I failed to inform the public that my books were available. No one knew they existed. By the end of the fiscal year, 120,000 homes will have my flyer delivered to their home. At 2%, that is 2,400 responses with a values of sales at $60,000.00.
That is the worst case scenerio. There is a good possibility that our efforts may range between 2 to 5% because of the quality of the book and the provocative front cover. Timing is also a major factor. The release mirrors the situation that Greater Victoria is presently experiencing.
I am expecting between $60,000.00 to $75,000.00 in sales this year. As mentinoned before, all 1st year profits of each book in the series will be donated to the Victoria Human Exchange Society to aid them in their fight against homelessness.
In five years, I hope to support VHES to achieve their goal. Sales will also increase by word of mouth once people start reading the book. Compounded with advertisement, media coverage and saturating the market on the Island, we can have this book become a self-published best seller on the Island.
The whole campaign starts with a spark which with hopes it will turn into a raging fire.
