Phase II / Publicity Campain
3/6/2009 10:33:48 AM    [ Flag as Inappropriate ]

I have intiated and completed my first phase of publicity with dismal results by appealling to the public. Imagine, I attempted contact with 5,000 hiuseholds and did not receive one response. I sent out 25 books for review and provocation and am receiving an overwhelming response.
My book and series is relevent to a diverse audience. It has social, political and educational attraction. The second phase was to target prominent people and organizations who would be most likely to become interested if I put a book in their hands.

This was initiated to provoke local and national interests to investigate further into this project. Many organizations can profoundly benifit from this book and series in the operation of their own organization.

Even the Prime Minister of Canada can be enlightened of what is happening to his cities accross the country by using Victoria, BC as an example.

Books went out to major government offices and institutions that have the power to make changes in the way we live. This line of publicity is far more effective as well as being less expensive to to initiate.

Well chosen and researched targets have the strength to provoke interest within society that a single man on a mission cannot do. Society does not listen to a nobody, but they will pay attention to the decision and policy makers that support the project.

The goal of this campaign is to direct the interest upon those who have the influence of reaching the people for me using their resourses to get the message out.

I approached the mental health, addiction, homeless as well as government systems and institutions. The topics of the book and series has a direct revelency to their bread and butter.

I have noticed in the publicity campaign that no one will lend you their ear unless it affects them personally. As only one person, I do not have that connection with society as to what these organizations and institutions already have.

Instead of establishing my own contacts which is a very slow and time consuming proccess, it can be easily be done by riding the coat tails of someone else that is already connected.

This sounds devious, but this is normal and frequent buisness technique that has been proven time after time to really work.

You are not taking advantage of them, you are providing important and useful information that they can benifit from by utilizing your contribution to enhance their own mission in life. It basically boils down to a trade-off and agreement between you and them.

You may send out twenty or more books which will cost you a few bucks, but you only need one of them to meet your goals. You should know within a month or two if you provoked any interest.

In the meantime, you can work on your third and consecutive phases to reach your goals. In my case, it is not for money or self-gain. I truely believe that I am doing a good and moral thing for our most vulnerable.
