Fame is as fame does...

Appearing on tv isn't at all what I expected
Last time I blogged, I had just been interviewed for a national magazine. Well, wheels turn and that article was picked up by a national tv show. Now I am a writer, but not particularly an attention seeker in the general sense - I write because it's a way of being creative whilst not being recognised on the street. At first I considered it, then talked to my son & we both agreed we didn't want to do it, so I turned it down. They were more persuasive than I ever imagined possible - I couldn't really see what all the fuss was about so in the end we gave in and went down to the studio, where we told our story in front of the traditional studio audience. I have to say it was fun and not nerve wracking at all, much to my surprise. Would we do it again? Actually, no. My anonymity has been shattered & shopping was a weird experience for a while with people nudging each other & muttering - the lady in the chip shop started calling me by name when I went in. All very unsettling. Now I'm writing again after ill health made me take a break. As usual there are a couple of projects in hand: a collection of short stories and a full blown historical magical fantasy novel set in the early years of the iron age. It's better than twiddling my thumbs.
