Sue Phillips Invites.....
8/15/2004 6:17:41 PM    [ Flag as Inappropriate ]

Launch date for The Waldorf Street Paradoc [published by Rainfall Books]. We are going to make this a day that nobody will forget.....
GATHER YE SCRIBES AND COME TO MY BOOK LAUNCH
SATURDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER 2004 3.00 PM

Kenney's Bar, Castle Street, Hinckley, Leics. UK
[see www.spiralthreads.co.uk for details - it's very easy to get to - so long as you can get to England]

This is a reminder for all those who already know, and an invitation to all those who don't. We have decided to turn the launch of my book The Waldorf Street Paradox into a general Scribes gathering with the usual charity raffle, quiz [for money] and curry pilgrimage for the devoted. Obviously, anyone with a book to sell is welcome to bring copies along.

You will also have the chance to meet the rather brilliant new artist Karl Owens who illustrated Waldorf Street. He will be in character dress and you can come similarly attired if you wish.

Again we are using Mark West's idea of asking for donations of signed books, manuscripts, artwork etc. for the charity raffle and will be holding a pub quiz [questions supplied by demon quizmaster Dave Price] with proceeds being split between the winner and the designated charity. The charity has not been decided upon yet, so if you have any strong feelings about this, let me know asap.

To coincide with all this loveliness, the Hinckley Mind charity shop, a few doors downhill from the venue will be selling a selection of s/h fantasy and horror books, many of these being limited editions [and they don't overprice].

There are several restaurants, curry houses and even a chip shop very close by. You will also have the chance to meet the rather brilliant new artist Karl Owens who illustrated Waldorf Street. He will be in character dress and you can come similarly attired if you wish.

Visit my websites www.spiralthreads.co.uk and www.authorsden.com/susanmphillips for more details and accomodation addresses for those who wish to stay over.
