You just never know! A few years ago, Beth Greenway Skinner and I were in the same awesome writers critique group in Honolulu. Then her hubby got transferred to the Pentagon, she accompanied him with their daughters, and we didn't see each other or chat much for a long time.
When I posted on Facebook that I was digitally publishing a book, she messaged me that she'd like to be considered to do my next book cover. I went to her portfolio and was impressed.
I gave a hard look at the cover Book Baby had done, and the dragon was a European type, not a Chinese type, and I knew my picky kid readers would spot the error, so I asked Beth to see what she could come up with.
Unfortunately, Beth is almost as technologically challenged as I am, and we both struggled to send many revisions back and forth until she nailed it. She's blessed with a daughter who knows about pixels and jpegs and esoteric stuff like that, so we finally have something usable.
Now, if I can just get it sent to Book Baby, and they get the old cover replaced with the new one, the Kindle version should be out in a few days and all the other readers will soon follow. Yay!
