American WHAT Awards?
11/23/2009 6:58:15 AM
Think I'm going to need to wash out my eyes with bleach ... holy cow.

Okay.  Tired.  Why is it that I cannot say anything about someone because of their color or sexual preference, because it would be considered a hate crime?

If I say I'm a Christian, or something offends me, suddenly it's open season.

Last night, for example:  watched the American Music Awards, because I like music.

What I saw instead seemed to be an all out sex orgy.  Many of the female entertainers had clothes on (I think - still on the fence about Lady Gaga).  The expicit, come here and do me moves distracted from the song.

And Adam Lambert:  leading two men across the stage on a leash?  Singing about how rough you were going to be?  Grabbing a musician and tongue kissing her?  Him??  Grabbing a male dancer's head and forcing it into your crotch?

Our kids look up to these people.  Want to be like them.  Want to BE them.

They're already dressing like them.

Heaven forbid.

The other artists should have taken a cue from Kelly Clarkson:  backed only by an orchestra, she let her voice - that amazing, beautiful voice - do the talking.  No need to prance around.  No need to wonder if the vocals are live or Memorex.  Nothing to get in the way of her pure talent.

THAT'S music.  That's why awards are given.

She was the class act of the evening.  You done Burleson, Texas proud.

But if I say anything, I'm the target of attacks.  Told to grow up and die.  Told to stop being so sensitive.  Told to take my Jesus and what to do with Him.  Told what to do to myself and how.

Think that's anatomically impossible.

Yes, could have turned the channel.  Yes, I don't have to read a poem that offends.  The most effective form of censorship is not going there, right?

But don't force me to watch your perverted acts and expect me to like them.

Don't tell me it's raining when you're peeing on my boots.

And we wonder what's wrong in America.

Nero is fiddlin', as Jerry Bolton often says.  Sure is, Jerry:  ain't it sure ain't God Bless America!
