Survival Instinct

For the first time today, it's really quiet in the office; the phones not ringing, no one sticking their head in the door and everyone else has gone to lunch.
It is eerie sometimes when you go from chaos to quiet in one fell swoop, seems like you have to regroup your head, at least thats the way it works for me.
We just had one of local photographers stop by and make a presentation of the work he's done over the last few years. I have to say it was quite impressive but I don't see how it relates to a radio station; oh well, what do I know?
One of the imamges that he showed is still stuck in my head and it was so simple but very poingnant, because it showed a baby duck swimming in a pond by himself. The photographer said this little fella didn't have a mom or dad, no brothers or sisters...he was all alone, but the one thing about him was that he had this look of determination on his little bill; perhaps he was one of the good ducks and had learned the hard way to just let the water fall off his back. Most importantly, I think he had that same instinct we all have and that is the will to survive. Way to go little duck!
And way to go big ducks playing in the sweet 16 in St. Louis, Mo.
