Are We Doing Anything There?

A Vet's answer
I was at the Atlanta VA hospital yesterday and I struck up a conversation with another, much younger Veteran. He had been wounded in Afganistan and was now dealing with the red tape of the VA system.
I asked him if were were doing any good there and he had a chilling answer.
"The war in Iraq lasted only a few months as a combat zone." He said. "Then we were classified as a peace keeping force."
"Afganistan has always been an active combat zone, and the way it is going we could be there for years to come.
Plus they are still using armaments they got from the U.S. that Bush gave them to fight the Russians, go figure."

That was from someone who was there and was wounded fighting for .....something.
I am afraid that this war cold become this generation's Viet-Nam.
Another question I have is, how come you never hear about a terrorist attack on a Russian city? No suicide bombers, no 911.
I wonder if they aren't doing the same thing for the Taliban that we did for the Mujahideen?
