Black and white
1/15/2007 5:05:36 AM

Winter - That time of year when the world become black and white.
Today is the first real snow of the season for those of us in New England. This has been a rare winter one where storms have come and gone but today our world changes to black and white. What yesterday seemed so complicated like looking through a prism has been simplified by small white flakes glistening in the clean air around me. The world seems to darken somewhat and the desire to move about diminishes as my part of the world slips into a quiet and peaceful state. This time of year sticks out from the others because of the lack of color except that found in the solitude of an open fire. I can hear the crackle of the fire as a backdrop to my musing but also feel the warmth of its last gift to my world. One second the fire is blazing while in the next that flame that gave so much warmth disappears from view to become a part of the mystery of life. What was is no more. What I could see dissolves into the vapor of now and appears in the memory of my dreams never more to be found. The now becomes the past and the past is only seen within our minds eye. So it is in winter. One day the black and white of winter will becomd the colors of spring. The world will once again awaken from its dreamy sleep to find a well kept garden blossoming, energizing, and touching us with its gentle caress. Ah, something to dream for, remember, and dream of. This time of year is a struggle for some while others flow smoothly past the black and white of today. They never see the darkness but only see Light. They are the Lightkeepers sprinkled amid the blindness caused by the brightness of the accumulating snow. They keep the world on track and help others pull through what for them is a difficult and heart wrenching time. To those who are Lightkeepers keep your glow bright amid the darkness some see. Keep your brilliance glowing so that it can be seen and act as a beacon for others to see. You are the Creator's gifts to the world and can make someone's day become a blessing instead of a curse. To you I send my love and thank you for spreading your warmth amid the cold of black and white. I share your brilliance and work to shine my Light amid the cold of day. I live each day to spread my Light to all who are willing to see. You see, to become a Lightkeeper takes only a desire to change and bring Light where darkness hides. It costs you nothing to begin but gives so much in return. I urge you to become a Lightkeeper and light your path today. Shed goodness and peace and light someone's way wherever you may go. You will bring the colors of spring into everyone's world and cause a black and white world to become one of untold hues. Like me you may never know who you touched whose life you changed today but by touching other's and giving your Light you have given God's love away.
