Living in a Nursing Home 6/3/2007 8:47:48 AM I'm not as enamored as I once was 6/3/07
Hi all,
Although my needs are still being met, I am no longer as enamored with this place as I once was. The staff turnover is probably not any higher here than in most nursing homes, but I can see where the learning curve for new employees is detrimental to the well-being of residents. It is left up to the residents to "teach" the new staff how to care for them as we all require some special things that are unique to us as individuals. For me this is an inconvenience, for some it is a hardship, and for others it is impossible. Unfortunately, I don't have a solution to this problem and it is the elders that ultimately pay the price---again.
These are the same people that worked hard for the last 50-60 years so that the next generation would have a better life.
